Some 300,000 IT jobs will have been culled this year globally, according to the Hackett Group.
Between 2000 and 2014, Hackett estimates that almost two million technology jobs will have disappeared, as companies hack away at their back-office jobs, which include finance, procurement, HR and general administration. By far the biggest job back-office function to be hit, however, will be IT. Automation, outsourcing and process improvement will all contribute to the job losses
Hackett’s findings were based on a survey of 4,000 global companies with revenues of at least $1bn.
