Portugal Telecom SA should chose a strategic partner before the end of this year, chairman Murteira Nabo told Semanario, adding that as the government wanted to retain 25%, and 49% is now in the hands of the public, any partner could have up to 25%. It says it has spoken to various international telecommunications companies, including British Telecommunications Plc, Stet SpA, Telefonica de Espana SA and Deutsche Telecom AG, but no proposals had been formulated. It also said it may take more than one partner.
