Philippine cellular phone company Pilipino Telephone Corp will spend $230m to finance 1996 expansion to increase its cellular mobile telephone system, landlines, switch capacity and cell sites this year. It said funds would be raised through direct loans or issue of debt securities although it had not dismissed the possibility of tapping the equities market. Piltel said that by year end it would up its subscriber base to 320,000 from 202,358 as of December last year.
