According to PC Week, while Intel Corp is not commenting for fear of falling foul of Proposition 211, it appears that there are not going to be any free 200MHz parts this year, so that if manufacturers haven’t already got their allocation firmly nailed down, they won’t see any this year. Intel is fully sold out and if you haven’t got your orders in, you’re screwed, an official at one top 10 systems vendor told the paper: Inventory is the lowest it’s ever been. Other industry executives say that the problem is even worse than has been admitted, and that because of yield problems Intel does not expect to ship further supplies, even to its major customers.
