18 PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR ADAPTING CELLULAR PHONES TO BILL OTHERS

By CBR Staff Writer

Every technological development is followed by its own scam, and so it is that 18 people, including a hair stylist, a plumber, a petrol station owner, a doctor and a student – all the types of people who like to be in when they’re out – were last week arrested by secret service agents and the Feds and charged with ripping off Nynex Mobile Communications to the tune of $40,000 by altering the ID ROM in their cellular phones so that all their calls got billed to some other poor sap.
