1776 Inc, that patriotic American from Los Angeles, has come up with disk array and mirroring software that promises to enable 80386 and 80486 machines to improve the performance and fault tolerance of systems built with disk array controllers by some 50% to 500%. List price for the Fault-Freedom 2.3 is $1,000, and the company wants to do OEM deals. A competitor to products from Veritas and Chantel, it runs under Unix System V.3 and V.4, and will enable large databases to span two or more disks.
