Lacking specific benchmark data, Microprocessor Report extrapolates from Digital Equipment Corp’s 200MHz Specmark claim and figures a 150MHz Alpha chip should perform at over 110 SPECmarks: it has also heard talk that National Semiconductor Corp, the only major US semiconductor house without a RISC design (aside from its Swordfish), is in discussions to fabricate Alpha.
