12 MILLION MAY USE NET FOR HOLIDAY SHOPPING

By CBR Staff Writer

New York-based internet research and consulting firm Cyber Dialogue is betting that almost 12 million Americans will rely on the internet for holiday shopping this year. According to its figures, 6.7 million people will use the net to shop, while another 9 million will buy offline after researching products online. Four million will fall into both categories, making a total of 11.7 million using the web for their holiday purchasing. The firm expects to see $4.7bn change hands directly and indirectly as a result of the internet; $2bn of which is expected to be spent online.
