128Gb OPTICAL JUKEBOX EXPECTED FROM DEC

Digital Equipment Corp is tipped to come out shortly with an optical jukebox storing up to 128Gb of write-once data on 64 12 optical disks from Control Data using the hardware developed by FileNet Corp of Costa Mesa, California, with software jointly developed by DEC and Perceptics Corp. The system is expected to have average access time of 150mS and a transfer rate of 256Kbytes per second and to come with SCSI or ISI controller interfaces plus RS232C and RS422 ports.
