1,200 MEDICAL JOBS DISAPPEAR AT SIEMENS

Siemens AG has persuaded staff in its medical electronics group to accept a cost-cutting plan that will eliminate about 1,200 jobs over the next two years. About 600 will be covered by early retirement or voluntary severance, transfers to other units will cover another 200, leaving 400 compulsory lay-offs.
