What better way to promote an app than by having it endorsed by the most popular boyband on the planet?

On Tuesday, 70,000 fans took to Leicester Square in London to catch a glimpse of One Direction as they attended the premiere of their new documentary film.

Social video app Vyclone gave fans of the boyband the chance to participate in making their own film about the premiere of One Direction: This Is Us, in London. The app is used for co-creating, syncing and editing multiple videos of a shared event.

Fans could use Vyclone to film their experience, which was instantly synced and auto-stitched into Vyclone videos taken by other fans, resulting in a collaborative film featuring Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn.

"There is no better fan base than One Direction’s, and we love that we’re able to bring the band directly to the fans using our technology," said David King Lassman, CEO and co-founder of Vyclone. "This is a unique opportunity to give at-home fans enhanced access to an exclusive event, and we can’t wait to see the collaborative content created."

It seems that One Direction are taking over most forms of social media as they had several hashtags trending on Twitter yesterday and Mashable reported that 31 of Vine’s Top 100 videos come from Harry Styles.

The boys have 14.2m Twitter followers and 19.3m Facebook fans, proving their social media weight.
