Yesterday, The Sun newspaper published a small article where they asked an author to pick his favourite developing technologies.
Unfortunately for them, one of the name-checked companies featured in the blurb is fictional.
Sarif Industries is credited as developing a cybernetic eyeball implant that will be ‘"commonplace for our grandkids."
The problem is, Sarif Industries is not a real company. The tech giant only features inside the fictional universe of Dues Ex, a hit video game series.
The newspaper even featured an image of the tech-eyeball, with Sarif logo on it and all!
The eyeball is terribly advanced, and looks like something out of science-fiction. 1) That’s because it is, and 2) the writer of the piece should definitely have picked up on how awesome it looks and have realised we can’t make that stuff yet!
To be fair, Sarif Industries does have its own website, which ‘kind’ of looks almost real. Except, it’s not. Tut tut. You won’t find any of that fictional stuff passing off as real around here on CBR, no, don’t you worry.
Look out for our interview this afternoon with Rick Deckard, America’s top android bounty hunter. He’s in to give us a low down on the next generation of hover cars. We may even be trying one out!
