Wipro Technologies, Citrix Systems announced an initiative with Microsoft to deliver an integrated Wipro Desktop as a Service (Wipro DaaS) offering that uses desktop virtualisation technologies of Citrix and Microsoft.

Wipro said that the new service is designed to meet needs of specific industries including education, manufacturing, banking and healthcare, and is currently available for beta customers.

The Wipro DaaS offering is based on Citrix XenDesktop and leverages Citrix FlexCast delivery technology to provide multiple types of virtual desktops – hosted or local, physical or virtual.

In addition, the new offering incorporates Microsoft VDI Premium Suite, which includes Microsoft VDI infrastructure and management software to virtualise, manage, stream and remotely display applications and deliver desktops remotely.

The new DaaS offers organisations virtual desktops and applications as a service, and will be hosted at Wipro’s datacentres or at a customer’s location.

Citrix XenDesktop product marketing vice president Sumit Dhawan said, the Wipro DaaS service with Citrix XenDesktop and Microsoft offers a low cost, modular and scalable service model which addresses the needs of different users via multiple types of virtual desktops.
