Google is reportedly buying video game streaming company Twitch for about $1bn to integrate the service with YouTube.
YouTube is expected to use the service to offer live streaming services and benefit from watching other people play video games.
Twitch has more than 45 million viewers on its live streaming site each month.
The streaming site has 50 million active monthly users out of which 1.1 million members broadcast videos every month.
Some gamers have raised concerns over the acquisition as they are worried YouTube content will dominate the platform and ruin the Twitch experience.
Reports also say that Google could adopt Twitch’s subscription video model on its YouTube platform to expand its reach to a wider audience, expanding into the online video gaming market.
Neither company has confirmed the reports about the acquisition.
