Trend Micro has introduced Titanium Security for Netbooks, a security product which uses new scanning technology to automatically find and remove malware including viruses, spyware, phishing and pharming attempts.
Titanium Security, which is priced from £39.99, blocks untrustworthy links from activating in emails or IMs and also automatically finds and uninstalls existing security software, Trend Micro said.
Anthony O’Mara, VP of EMEA at Trend Micro said: “Trend Micro identified that for everyday tasks such as email and surfing the web, netbook users need easy-to-install, easy-to-use powerful protection that automatically detects and removes the latest viruses and spyware.
“Trend has responded to that need with Titanium, while ASUS’ decision to protect its netbooks with the solution, is an industry endorsement that validates Trend’s position as the provider of the best threat protection for portable netbook devices.”
Titanium operates in the background and boasts a sleek and intuitive widget like interface. It does not slow down users’ netbooks when browsing the internet, or sending or receiving email, the company claims.
Trend Micro said that Asus has endorsed to ship all its Eeepc netbooks with Titanium as standard.
John Swatton, marketing specialist at Asus, said: “Low computing power also means savvy netbook users may shut down critical security programs to boost speed. Titanium runs in the background providing comprehensive, up-to-date protection against online threats without slowing down the system.”
