Microsoft is set to release a miniature version of its Surface tablet this spring, according to reports circulating on the Internet.

The tech giant is due to follow in the footsteps of Apple and the iPad Mini, with its own Surface Mini, though rumours about such a device have been doing the rounds for the last year.

However, Neowin now claims to have a few extra details about Microsoft’s latest, saying it will sport a display between seven and eight inches, compared to the Surface Pro 2’s 10.6-inch screen.

Microsoft is expected to differentiate the tablet from the Pro 2, which comes with Office already installed on it, by marketing it as a note-taking device, and it will support a proper pen for use on a screen specially designed for writing on, such as a Wacom digitizer, added Neowin.
