By creating a secure portal that allows customers outside of the corporate network to access online financial services, ProxySG appliances protect Shanghai Far East Securities from malicious attacks aimed at disrupting the company’s servers while accelerating response time for the applications, according to Blue Coat.
To protect its network from these threats and to safeguard customer transactions and personal data, the securities company deployed Blue Coat ProxySG appliances in front of its servers to act as an intermediary for customer interaction. By creating this safety net, the ProxySG appliances can block malicious threats such as denial of service attacks or other attacks that seek to overwhelm the application servers, said Blue Coat.
Proxy SG appliances are also expected to enable Shanghai Far East Securities to accelerate the performance of its customer facing applications by reducing processing requirements per customer request. For frequently accessed content and information, Blue Coat ProxySG appliances cache the information locally. When a customer requests the cached information, ProxySG appliances can deliver it without going back to the server, thereby eliminating redundant computing processes, added Blue Coat.
