Ricoh Americas, a provider of digital office equipment, has introduced eCopy’s new desktop document imaging software, PaperWorks. The company said that the new offering is an enhanced version that allows users to scan, merge and modify documents, connect with other business software applications they utilise daily and communicate with the back office applications for improved document workflow management.
The company added that the new software offers scanning capabilities from Ricoh desktop and network printers, scanners and multifunction devices and can convert electronic and paper documents into text-searchable, secure PDFs that can be saved to and retrieved from any system or network folder.
According to the company, users can view and edit scanned and electronic document image files with the new offering. Inserting bookmarks, adding headers, footers, notes and electronic signatures along with annotating pages using drawing and text tools are among the modifying options available.
The company claimed that users can also burn-in changes. Other security features include the ability to permanently remove confidential information with blackout and whiteout tools, encrypt documents before sending them over a network and apply password protection to control who can print, copy or edit a document.
In instances when documents stem from different sources, such as e-mail, fax or electronic file, the new offering allows the end-user combine these into a searchable common file format, the company said.
With the drag and drop functions, users can reportedly rearrange content within the merged file. The new offering also enables the integration of documents into business process workflows.
Additionally, eCopy PaperWorks Connectors for Microsoft SharePoint, EMC Documentum, Autonomy iManage WorkSite, and Open Text eDOCS DM, provide several features including the ability to deliver, store, and retrieve electronic and scanned information from document management systems, the company said.
Ron Potesky, senior vice president of corporate communications at Ricoh Americas, said: eCopy PaperWorks builds on the outstanding value eCopy software has already delivered to Ricoh MFP customers. It helps office workers to make better utilisation of their time and energy by providing advanced tools to scan, merge, modify and connect documents to the applications used to run the organisation.
