The porn industry has launched a campaign to encourage its viewers to pay for their content, following a spate of piracy in recent years.
PayforYourPorn campaign members said: "If you don’t pay for porn, then no more will be produced – it’s as simple as that."
The group behind the campaign said that adult entertainment fans need to fight against theft by seeking out paid content.
"It’s better produced, delivered in higher quality formats, more secure, and fosters the creation of new adult content," it added.
Publishers supporting the campaign include adultdvdempire, Xcritic, Quebecexpo, RPReign, Fineass, Bluedoor, Nokiechat.
Porn actress Jessica Drake said: "As a performer, director and producer for Wicked Pictures, I can speak firsthand about the very real effects of piracy on the entertainment industry and the economy."
"It not only decreases the bottom line of the artist but also every single person who is employed by the art, music, literary and entertainment industries," she added.
"People don’t realise illegal downloading of copyrighted digital content results in a loss of jobs, lower wages, higher unemployment rates and higher taxes."
Tasha Reign, another porn actress said: "I hope my fans understand that I cannot create porn without them paying for it."
