Oracle has agreed to acquire GoldenGate Software, a provider of real-time data integration systems. The company said that the addition of technology from GoldenGate will extend its capabilities with heterogeneous real-time data integration offerings and adds functionality to maintain uptime of business-critical applications during migrations and upgrades.

The combination of GoldenGate and Oracle is expected to create a heterogeneous data integration platform. The company claims that customers are expected to benefit from real-time data movement, replication and synchronisation across heterogeneous systems enabling improved business intelligence, while providing high availability of business-critical applications.

Reportedly, GoldenGate is already integrated with Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Applications, Oracle Business Intelligence, and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management. Complementary products including Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition, Oracle Data Integration, Oracle Data Service Integrator, Oracle Data Quality, and Oracle Data Profiling are also expected to be offered after the close of the transaction.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the second half of 2009. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
