Open Text has introduced its new Web Content Management (WCM) software. The new offering, Web Solutions 10, reportedly allows organisations to manage and deliver corporate information to users over the web.
According to the company, WCM is capable of tapping into content housed in many different enterprise systems. It features usability upgrades, a new technology foundation, and offers integration with its ECM suite and the SAP NetWeaver Portal component.
Jens Rabe, vice president of web solutions at Open Text, said: Sites like iGoogle, Twitter and the many social web offerings have raised the bar on the type of intuitive, flexible and personal experience users expect when visiting web sites.
With Web Solutions 10, we are bringing the full Web 2.0 user interface to both the people editing content within the company and to the consumers of this content. The many enhancements and deep ECM and digital asset management integrations in this release will help customers save costs and produce more compelling and effective websites.
Integrations in the new offering reportedly allow content editors combine content from social media, the company’s ECM suite and media applications, and reuse it across many target systems, including the SAP NetWeaver Portal.
The company said that the new offering includes SmartEdit supported by rich internet application (RIA) technology, which helps to enhance user productivity.
The company further said that Web Solutions 10 also offers an editing environment that leverages enterprise IT investments. Based on Microsoft .Net technology, the new offering allows memory management, multi-processor and multi-threading, and support for Microsoft SQL 2008 and Windows Server 2008.
