Mobile company O2 has launched a smartphone leasing service for Apple’s iPhone 4S.
According to O2, customers can use Apple iPhones 4S 16GB at £55 per month and 32GB iPhones 45 for £65 per month without any upfront fee.
O2 marketing and consumer director Sally Cowdry said this is the first time a UK mobile operator has adopted a leasing model. "They understand how it works and what the advantages of a leasing are. We have simply taken this idea and applied it to the smartphone market," Codry adds.
People availing this service, named O2 Lease, can use the phone for 12 months, after which they can return the handset and opt for a newer model or simply walk away.
This deal gives the consumer 750 call-time minutes per month and unlimited texts, 500MB of data downloads and unlimited Wi-Fi.
O2 said if the phone is unreturned, damaged or is not working when handed back, the company will raise a charge.
