Norton from Symantec has released Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security 2011, and Norton Power Eraser – a free tool to consumers that is designed to eliminate fake antivirus or "scareware" applications.

The company said that Norton 2011 products feature Reputation Based Security that instantly checks when and where programs originated to identify and stop new malicious programs.

The Norton 2011 products also incorporates features that monitors all running applications, and proactively alerts users if any program is overusing system resources and slowing them down.

The Download Insight 2.0 feature incorporated in the Norton 2011 products offers reputation-based protection – checking every downloaded file for safety before it is allowed to run.

Sonar 3 embedded in the Norton 2011 products provide "zero-day" protection by identifing suspicious software based on its behaviors and automatically handles any decision making on behalf of the user.

Norton said that the Bootable Recovery Tool allows the company’s users to boot a PC into a safe state when a system is deeply infected with a rootkit or other troublesome malware.

Bootable Recovery Tool wizard automatically creates a CD/DVD/USB bootable device in a quick and easy way.

The company is also offering free tools such as, Power Eraser that targets and eliminate today’s latest threats, Safe Web Lite that identifies risky sites before users click on them in search results, and Online Family that helps keep kids stay safe online while encouraging open communication with their parents about their online activities.
