Microsoft has announced that it has acquired Datazen Software.

The acquisition of the mobile business intelligence and data visualisation specialist will allow Microsoft to expand its business intelligence offerings, providing organisations with tools to extract value from data on any device.

SQL Server Enterprise Edition customers with version 2008 or later and Software Assurance will be able to download the Datazen Server software at no additional cost.

In addition, Microsoft announced that it plans to integrate Datazen technology with Power BI to provide customers with another hybrid bridge for on-premises investment to the cloud.

"This acquisition accelerates our Power BI strategy to help organizations create a data culture with easy-to-use, accessible tools to extract maximum value from data – from anywhere, on any device."
