Identity management specialist Intercede has agreed terms with Lockheed Martin for the supply of its MyID smart card ID system, as part of the defence contractor’s assured identity programme that will eventually touch all its 140,000 US employees.
The system can be used for registering employees, validating their identities, and issuing and managing their credentials, and is often implemented as part of a wider identity management infrastructure.
MyID is deployed at Barclays Bank, and lists the UK National Health Service and numerous US government agencies and departments as other user sites.
The system meets the FIPS 201 US Federal Government standards for personal identity verification for employees and contractors.
Earlier this month Aim-listed Intercede posted a 28% in sales for the six months to September 30, and the Leicestershire-based company said this new contract with Lockheed would result in a material contribution to revenue.
Lockheed Martin is a lead industry partner for several major US government biometrics initiatives and also is the prime contractor for the US Transportation Security Administration’s Transportation Worker Identification Credential programme, which equips vetted maritime workers with biometric credentials.
