Kyocera Communications, a provider of Kyocera and Sanyo-branded wireless devices, has introduced new mobile phone, Sanyo Vero, for customers of Sprint Nextel, a wireless and wireline communications services provider in the US.

The new phone features extra-large keypad, a large-font option for easy reading on the 2.4-inch QVGA display, and a external 1.3-inch OLED glow-thru display for caller ID and clock.

The 3.4 ounces phone comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera and has strong battery life with up to 5.2 hours of talk time, the company said.

Kyocera Communications vice president of sales and marketing Yasuhiro Oishi said, Vero’s combination of features and value make it ideally suited to seniors, kids and anyone who wants a dependable, affordable communication tool.

Vero supports Sprint Family Locator, which uses GPS technology to locate a phone and displays the location on an interactive map, and includes parental controls, a feature for parents and business managers alike.

Vero includes WAP 2.0 for downloading ringers, games and screensavers; and Automatic Speech Recognition software (ASR) to dial numbers or launch phone functions.

Kyocera said that Vero is available now through Sprint’s direct ship sales channels including Business Sales, Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1) and Web sales. Sprint retail channels will make Vero available in 10 October 2010.
