Database and application security vendor Imperva has come out with a new database activity monitoring system which brings analytics to automated forensic and audit investigations.

Market analysts says that many enterprises now need database activity monitoring tools so that they can clear regulatory hurdles by tightening their privileged user controls, and audit their breach and fraud detection procedures.

Regulations like Sarbanes-Oxley, the payment card industry data security standard, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Basel II are all driving the need for advanced database controls.

Announcing a new version of its SecureSphere product, Imperva said its system provide fast, reliable, and repeatable answers to baseline audit questions.

“SecureSphere now provides near real-time multi-dimensional views of audit data and collects native audit logs,” the company claimed.

The addition of audit analytics means that non technical database auditors will be able to analyse failed logins, check out unauthorised operations and track privileged account activities.

The system can now also maps more than 150 privileged SAP transactions.

Imperva also recently introduced the SecureSphere Database Gateway for z/OS, which uses this same mechanism to provide a robust audit trail for mainframe systems.
