HTC has unveiled the new Hero smartphone, its third phone based on Google’s Android platform following the Dream and the Magic. It comes with a new intuitive interface HTC Sense.
The new smartphone features 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, 528 MHz 3.2-inch TFT-LCD touchscreen, digital compass, gravity-sensor, 3.5mm stereo headset jack, a 5 mega-pixel autofocus camera and expandable MicroSD memory.
The new HTC Sense is expected to be available on all new HTC devices in future. The company said that the new intuitive interface is based on three basic principles – Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected.
HTC said that the Make It Mine encourages users to dictate and organise how they want to access the people and content. This means adding widgets that push content like Twitter feeds, weather and other content to the surface. Users could also access email, calendar and world-times.
The Stay Close feature means managing a variety of communication channels and applications ranging from phone calls, emails, texts, photos, status updates and the likes. The Discover the Unexpected principle reportedly enables HTC Hero users to customise the phone by adding features such as turning the phone over to silence a ring or improving the smart dialler.
The new HTC Hero also comes with support for Adobe Flash Platform technology. It enables the users to access flash technology based content on the web such as viewing YouTube videos.
The HTC Hero is expected to be available across Europe in July and later in the summer in Asia. A distinct North American version is expected to be available later in 2009.
