Punch Taverns, one of the UK’s leading leased pub companies, has expanded its use of Appian Cloud across the organisation.

The pub chain has been running its crucial multi-departmental and collaborative Property Investment Processes on Appian since 2012. The success of that deployment sparked a 15-month program to look at how process improvement could be leveraged throughout the entire business. Punch Taverns has now deployed subsequent Appian Cloud applications for its processes related to Commercial Leasing and New Lessee On-Boarding, with near-term deployments planned for contracting processes such as Short-Term Agreements.

Appian’s integration of process management, enterprise data navigation, native mobility and social collaboration delivers a single Work Platform to accelerate smarter decisions and business actions.

Kevin Dalley, Business Process and IT director at Punch Taverns, said: "Appian Cloud allows us to focus on business innovation, not IT development and support.

"The platform has radically changed how we think about the relationship between enterprise data and business process. As a result, we are finding new and better ways to work that are having a measureable impact on our business performance and our Partner experience."

Punch Taverns has a portfolio of more than 4,000 pubs. The company invests heavily in its pubs for lease, and its relationships with lessee Partners. The company initially used Appian Cloud to accelerate the complex processes underpinning a new property investment (everything from marketing assessments, property planning, and contractor selection to operational plan and financial case development, detailed project management and launch planning). The company’s newer deployments have focused on the lessee relationship, streamlining Partner on-boarding and contracting to support Punch Taverns’ goal of being the UK’s most trusted and best value leased pub company.

The company is now using the Appian Records data management capabilities as its CRM solution to centralize pub data, and is surfacing previously-manual process events in Appian’s Tempo event stream interface for rapid awareness, knowledge and action. Making all of that data, related collaborations, and process execution available through Appian’s native mobile apps is essential as 50 percent of the company’s workforce is field-based.

"Punch Taverns is an innovative company employing the most modern BPM capabilities to drive business growth," said Vikki Hailey, Appian’s Regional VP, UK, Ireland & Channel Islands. "That is what Appian’s Work Platform is fundamentally designed to do."

Appian is a specialist in modern BPM software and aims to deliver a work platform that unites users with all their data, processes, and collaborations – in one environment, on any mobile device, through a simple social interface.
