Hortonworks has announced a number of upgrades to its Apache Hadoop offering which are designed to make Hadoop ubiquitous across enterprises.
The advancements include Consistent Operations, which will allow for automated cloud provisioning and elastic scaling. This is born from the acquisition of SequenceIQ which will assist in the quick deployment of tools for launching Hadoop clusters.
Also included are automated rolling upgrades and the centralised management of health alerts and metrics, which is made available through Ambari 2.0.

Additional improvements come in the form of simplifying the set up of authentication through Kerberos, improved governance with the addition of engineers from JP Morgan Chase and a proposed data governance project, Apache Atlas.
To round off the improvements, Hadoop has also improved its developer experience by adding visual query performance analysis tools, which is also available through Ambari 2.0.
