Google has launched a new hosted enterprise search product Google Commerce Search which it claims to power online retail stores and e-commerce websites with the speed and accuracy.

According to Google, the new Commerce Search helps retail website stores reach their potential as commercial hubs, by improving the shopping experience for customers and the associated conversion rates for retailers. It also brings retailers speed and accuracy to provide sub-second response time to customer queries as it uses proprietary ranking technology to analyse the products in each data feed and serve the relevant match.

Google Commerce Search has e-commerce-specific features like parametric search, sorting, spell checker, stemming, and synonym suggestions. The retail-specific features like product promotions and product boost assist administrators in their marketing approach to maximise conversions. The Commerce Search API allows retailers to customise the search experience on their website, the company said.

Google said that the new Commerce Search is integrated with tools like Google Analytics and Google Product Search and it helps retailers measure changing conversion rates. In addition, e-commerce vendors benefit from providing a single feed of their catalog items to power Google Commerce Search for their website store and for indexing on Google Product Search.

Dave Girouard, president of Google Enterprise, said: We’re excited to bring Google Commerce Search to market in time for the holidays. To date the technology powering retail website stores has not kept pace with innovation in search. Google Commerce Search will help customers find accurate results extremely fast, to the benefit of retailers and customers alike.
