Highly sensitive and confidential childcare case reports that used to be sent by post and across standard email systems are now being fully secured using a managed service provided by hosting specialist eLINIA.

The service is being used by Atkinson Lewis, a small group of specialists that supports solicitors, family courts and local authorities.

The company’s team of consultants, psychiatrists and clinical experts based across the country provide advice and field support and create medical reports for legal professionals in childcare cases where drugs and alcohol may be involved.

Atkinson Lewis personnel access the managed service from a dedicated, password protected portal to upload and share confidential reports.

Once a report is uploaded, authorised recipients are automatically sent an encrypted e-mail, and can download the content over a secure SSL connection.

eLINIA, which is a former unit of BT, and runs hosting services out of data centre facilities in Slough, Cardiff and London, will also be providing end-point data encryption to ensure that the protection of sensitive reports held on local drives is not compromised.

For the second stage of the project, due for completion by the end of next month, the supplier will provide Atkinson Lewis with space in its accredited data centre to archive 10 years worth of sensitive reports.
