Digital River, a provider of e-commerce products, has expanded its e-commerce agreement with Western Digital (WD).
Digital River recently launched a new online store to allow WD expand its online market reach beyond the United States into Canada and Europe. For this expanded site, Digital River is reportedly handling online orders, ensuring product fulfillment and managing regulatory fees related to the recycling of electronics products in Europe. Digital River has been managing WD’s US online consumer sales since 2005.
WD’s new e-commerce site includes an online store and specialty outlet. WD’s new online store features its internal and external hard drives and home entertainment products, and accessories, such as carrying cases, cables and power supplies, the company said.
The company stated that in the new outlet store, shoppers can buy quality discontinued and recertified WD products. The entire site automatically displays and collects fees for recycling WD products in Europe, a feature that allows WD to comply with laws and regulations in the region.
Joel Ronning, CEO of Digital River, said: “More and more consumer electronics manufacturers are rethinking their approach to online markets. They are looking for new ways to balance retail and direct-to-consumer channels to drive global growth and profitability.
“Drawing from years of real-world testing and experience, we have a thorough understanding of the multi-channel model and consumer expectations. We’ve tailored our global e-commerce solutions to help consumer electronics manufacturers speed time-to-market and do it with less risk, and more cost effectively and efficiently than they could on their own.”
