BitTorrent has launched a new multimedia format known as Bundle, creates a store within a torrent to allow content producers to charge for files or gather user information.
The new Bundle will group together a range of content, some of which can only be accessed only after the user enters a key.
As part of its efforts to promote the new format, the firm has collaborated with music label Ultra to trial the Bundle Alpha by releasing a digital tour booklet from Kaskade, an American DJ.
BitTorrent marketing vice-president Matt Mason was quoted by BBC as saying: "The idea is that if you put the store or place to interact with the content creator inside the Bundle itself, then every creator stands to earn either money or a connection to a new fan every time that piece of content is shared."
After completing the file download, users will be taken to a webpage that offers them instant access to a song and video trailer, which can be unlocked by entering email address.
Further, the email address will be used by the artist to prop up their concerts or other products.
