Barnes & Noble is planning to launch new, cheaper versions of the Nook devices, known as Nook Color 2, ahead of the holiday season.
Nook, which has been a hit since its launch two years back, is said to be facing stiff competition from Kindle Fire, Amazon.com’s first tablet.
The new digital book offering of Barnes & Noble, to be launched in New York, is reportedly priced at around $250.
It will feature a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4 processor, a 7-inch IPS colour screen with a 1024 x 600-pixel display resolution and preinstalled 16GB of storage memory, among others.
Also, the world’s leading online bookstore is said to be leaving no stone unturned, as it also plans to cut down the price of its Color by $50 to $199, which will be on par with the price of Kindle Touch.
