Atalasoft, a provider of imaging components and technology for Microsoft .NET framework-based developers, has released DotImage 8.0, a new version of its .NET imaging toolkit.

According to Atalasoft, DotImage 8.0 comes with Microsoft Silverlight viewing and annotating controls and a new barcode writing toolkit. In addition, it has also extended its AJAX imaging toolkit with drag-and-drop thumbnails, the ability to add a thread of comments to any annotation, and a control that makes web scanning easy to integrate with JavaScript.

The company said that, add-on components are also available for DotImage including: PDF viewing, TWAIN and ISIS scanning, OCR for .NET & Searchable PDF creation, .NET barcode recognition, DICOM support, CAD support, and JPEG2000 and JBIG2 codecs.

Atalasoft has also expanded its support and maintenance program. With the new release, DotImage and its add-ons are delivered with twelve months of priority support. This includes telephone support with Atalasoft’s Massachusetts-based .NET and imaging specialists, priority in the support queue, and free product upgrades for the duration of the maintenance contract.

William Bither, founder and CEO of Atalasoft, said: Atalasoft is committed to bringing the developer community the best tools and support possible while keeping our components reasonably priced. We recognise the need for budget-strained development shops to produce differentiated applications quickly. Our revised licensing maintains desktop royalty free licensing while reducing the up-front development costs.
