In the group’s latest attack against the DoJ, the hacktivist collective claims the information taken from the DoJ contains "internal emails" and the "entire database dump" which Anonymous says caused the website to be taken down.

"Today we are releaseing [sic] 1.7GB of data that used to belong to the United States Bureau of Justice, until now, said Anonymous in a statement. " Within the booty you may find lots of shiny things such as internal emails, and the entire database dump. We Lulzed as they took the website down after being owned, clearly showing they were scared of what inevitably happened. "

The contents of the data have not been confirmed but the Department of Justice admitted to Reuters that hackers had accessed a server that holds DoJ data.

This is not the first time the Department of Justice has been hacked by Anonymous.

The DoJ has been attacked multiple times since becoming a target for the hacking group after the shutdown of Megaupload.

The Megaupload site was taken down when the men behind the site were accused of cheating copyright holders out of a hefty $500m over the course of five years.
