Passengers now have access to Wi-Fi in 150 London Underground stations after Virgin Media added a further six to its network.
The mobile operator revealed that the latest stations to be connected include Wimbledon, Richmond, Morden, Eastham, Barking and Upminster.
Virgin Media’s Wi-Fi network is currently offered as a free service to all Virgin Media broadband and mobile customers, while O2, EE, Three and Vodafone customers can sign up for free access.
However, passengers using other networks and service providers have to sign up for daily, weekly and bi-monthly passes for £2, £5 and £15 respectively.
Joe Lathan, Director of Broadband at Virgin Media, said: "Tube passengers have loved the Wi-Fi service ever since we launched in time for London 2012. Now they can benefit from live travel information, news and social media in Tube stations across the capital."
It comes as 2.5 million devices are now registered on the London Underground Wi-Fi, with over 3TB of data being used on the network each day, according to Virgin Media.
Gareth Powell, London Underground’s Director of Strategy and Service Development, added: "Wi-Fi on the Tube is one of many ways we’re improving our customers’ journeys and the service has moved from strength to strength since it launched in time for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
"We’re delighted that 150 stations on the Tube now have WiFi which will help our customers benefit from live travel information, news and social media while they are on the move
