Vodafone has reported a 14.3% increase in third-quarter revenue to £10.47 billion ($15 billion), and a 10% increase in its mobile customer base to 289 million.
Total services revenue grew 15% to £9.67 billion ($14 billion), with voice revenue up 11% at £6.8 billion ($10 billion), messaging revenue up 13% at £1.2 billion ($1.7 billion), data revenue up 86% at £786m ($1.12 billion), fixed-line revenue up 47% at £695m ($994m), and other services revenue up 15% at £262m ($375m).
Geographically, revenue from Europe grew 14% to £7.56 billion ($11 billion), while revenue from Africa and central Europe rose 8% to £1.4 billion ($2 billion), and Asia Pacific and Middle East sales rose 26% to £1.5 billion ($2.14 billion).
Vittorio Colao, CEO of Vodafone, said: Our underlying performance showed similar trends to the previous quarter, with pro forma service revenue up 1.4% including India and at constant exchange rates. In the context of the current economic environment, we have continued to implement our strategy, with an emphasis on customer value, mobile data, enterprise and fixed broadband. This has driven increased usage, 25% organic growth in data revenue and over 280,000 fixed broadband additions in Europe.
For fiscal 2009, the company said it expects revenue of between £40.6 billion ($58 billion) and £41.5 billion ($59.3 billion), with adjusted operating profit in the range of £11.5 billion ($16.4 billion) to £12 billion ($17.2 billion).
