A visual effects company behind Gravity and Skyfall looks to Dell’s desktop solution as it hunts for new talent.
London-based Framestore said its Montreal-based studio, recently built from scratch, had to be completed quickly to support upcoming films RoboCop and Edge of Tomorrow.
Steve MacPherson, CTO at Framestore, selected Dell’s T3610 and T5610 workstations, PowerEdge M610 and M620 Blade servers and XPS 8700 desktop computers.
"Just over 12 months ago, we began planning our expansion into Montreal and quickly realised the challenge of building the site infrastructure after it had opened for business," he said.
"Part of the success of this project is due to the help we received from Dell in terms of supply chain logistics, financing and technical support."
The T3610 and T5610 workstations will handle modelling, rigging, animation, lighting and compositing tasks, while Photoreal rendering will be brought to life by the PowerEdge M610 and M620 Blade servers.
Dell PowerEdge T610/T620 and R320 servers will also provide remote access for the company’s London team, while the networking wireless solutions should enable faster and securer access to files.
Framestore said it expects the solution to help it gain access to more artists, software developers and engineers in the film world.
