More than three quarters of UK employees believe that voice is the best channel of business communication, new research has revealed.

The report by voice solutions provider Resilient Networks also revealed that 20% of IT leaders said that a business without voice communications could destroy it.

The survey of 650 employees and IT leaders from financial services and local government suggested that 60% are planning to invest in their voice networks in the next twenty four months.

Most notably, 46% admit that they are not aware of a mechanism within their own company for restoring voice call technology in the case of failure.

And nearly a quarter of IT leaders do not know which metrics are used to measure the performance voice communications technology within their organisations.

Andrew Bale, CEO at Resilient Networks, said voice communications will be increasingly important over the next three years.

"At the same time this is worrying. The frustrations around voice communications, as experienced by employees, and the fact that IT leaders still have blind spot when it comes to ensuring voice continuity proves that investment into this business critical communications channel may not be into the right areas, or at the very least that efforts to improve this service are not focused enough," he added.
