Twitter has appointed ex-Ticketmaster chief executive officer (CEO), Nathan Hubbard, as its first head of commerce, as part of its efforts to enable shopping via tweets on the micro-blogging site.

As head of commerce operations, Hubbard will report Twitter global revenue head Adam Bain.

Hubbard was earlier responsible to manage digital initiatives at Live Nation prior to his appointment as chief of its ticketing division following its merger with Ticketmaster.

Hubbard would work to join forces with merchants and payment service providers and may possibly take a proportion of any transactions that is executed on its website, according to Bloomberg.

"We’re going to go to people who have stuff to sell and help them use Twitter to sell it more effectively," Hubbard said.

"One of the hallmarks of Twitter’s entire approach has been partnering.

"We’re going to take the same approach with owners of physical and digital goods."

Recently, the micro-blogging site also hired Jennifer Prince, formerly Google’s head of media and entertainment ad sales, to lead its entertainment sales.
