Printing services provider ThinPrint has launched the latest version of its cloud print offering — the ThinPrint Engine 8.6.

The Germany-based company said the ThinPrint Server Engine 8.6 improves productivity for mobile workers by integrating a wide range of mobile devices, including the iPad, with existing infrastructure.

It added that the offering simultaneously helps IT better utilise printers through enhanced printing functionality, accountability and a powerful printing performance.

The company hopes the offering would lead to streamlined workflows, optimised print management and significant reduction in printing and overall IT costs.

ThinPrint AG COO and CIO Charlotte Künzell said delivering a positive user experience drives the development of the ThinPrint Engine 8.6.

Künzell said, "The new version is a complete and easy-to-use solution that offers cost savings, simplifies and improves the overall IT and business processes and answers the growing demand for enterprise mobility, especially relevant with the continued success of the iPad."

Among the key features of new version of the cloud printing offering are: enhanced printing functionality – with punch, staple and bind functions; powerful performance; enterprise printing accountability; and enterprise mobility, said the company.

A new feature, Print-to-Cloud, enables mobile printing for virtual desktop environment users. With it users can use their mobile devices to print with a Cortado Workplace or Cortado Corporate Server account to any available printer on any network, both inside and outside the corporate environment, said the company.

Another new feature for tablet users, Print-to-ePaper, provides enterprise users with the capability to automatically print documents directly to their iPad or Android tablet instead of sending it to a printer.

Both features are compatible with Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp, VMware View and Microsoft RDS as well as standard PCs connecting to the ThinPrint Engine 8.6. It is based on the Virtual Desktop Processes (VDP) technology developed by ThinPrint’s mobile division Cortado, the company said.
