Sony has issued a guide to troubleshoot issues faced by new PS4 owners.

PS4 users complained of overheating and connectivity issues with the gaming device, including the continuous flashing of a blue light on their consoles, affecting its operation.

Sony said that faults could have been triggered by several issues, such as a problem with the power supply, hard drive or hardware or TV compatibility.

But the company said in a statement: "This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive."

The Japanese electronics firm said that the blinking blue light could be down to no audio or video output to the TV and the console shutting down.

Sony has recommended that users facing such problems shut down the console by pressing the power button for seven seconds.

In addition, users are also advised to check that the hard drive "is properly seated" in its bay, as a loose connection would prevent the console from completely powering on.

Within 24 hours of the console’s launch in the US and Canada, it sold one million units.
