Raspberry Pi, a card-sized computer designed to encourage computer science in schools, can now run the new Mozilla’s Firefox OS, according to an engineer from Nokia.
Oleg Romashin, in his experiments, has successfully managed to operate the Firefox OS on the Raspberry Pi.
Firefox OS, which was earlier known as Boot to Gecko (B2G), is the Mozilla foundation’s effort at offering an HTML-5 powered OS which will free customers from the cruelty of apps tied to mobile operating systems.
According to reports, Firefox is still under development and is expected to go on sale in 2013.
Nokia engineer had also performed some basic functions on the device with Firefox OS which include swiping through the OS’s menu.
Features of Raspberry Pi include insufficient 700MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM, which are shared between the CPU and its Broadcom GPU.
