PTC updated its ThingWorx IoT Platform with the sixth version enabling customers to scale and secure solutions.

Russ Fadel, President of ThingWorx said: "By combining the capabilities of ThingWorx and the new data storage engine, customers are able to implement geo-distribution of data to maximize availability, compliance with regulatory requirements and performance."

The runtime data store will use DataStax Enterprise powered by Apache Cassandra as the runtime data store to deliver a database platform purpose built for the performance and availability demands of IoT, web and mobile applications.

The company has also stepped up its security protocol with more vulnerability protection, FIPS-140-2 compliance at the edge devices, and extra certificate and encryption support.

PTC said ThingWorx’s solution will help clients to develop end-to-end secure IoT solutions.

The company unveiled the updated version at LiveWorx 2015 in Boston, US.
