People would prefer to lose their luggage on holiday instead of their phones, new research has revealed.
A survey of 1,000 UK employees, conducted by OnePoll, found that 53% said they would feel anxious without their phone.
Asked what item would upset them the most to lose on holiday, 14% said their mobile phone and just 8% said their luggage. Another 43% cited their passport, followed 30% who said their wallet.
The research also showed that about 50% had protected their phones with a password and other security controls.
Joel Smith, CTO at AppRiver, said: "The fact that only half of the people questioned had any type of security on their phone means many are at risk of losing more than their device if it goes missing.
Smith added that such habits would make it easier for hackers to view our bank accounts, emails and shopping habits.
"We’re not advocating people leave their phones behind, just think about security before they travel," he said.
Other research from Travel Supermarket found that 93% of people plan to take a break this year with 27% planning to go to the beach.
