The new technology designed for fiber-to-the-building applications is expected to allow operators to offer up to 100Mbps bandwidth. This VDSL service has sufficient capacity for end users to watch multiple HD TV streams per subscriber line while using an internet connection with fast symmetric speeds up- and down-stream speeds.
The solution is powered by DSLAM (digital subscriber line access multiplexer). Applicable for new and existing VDSL2 and ADSL2+ deployments, this software solution is claimed to allow end users to access IPTV with minimized loss of data packages.
Martin Lust, head of broadband access business unit at Nokia Siemens Networks, said: The traffic in networks will continue its rapid growth and VDSL2 capacity can satisfy this need for the next few years. It provides a smooth, cost-effective and high quality migration path to the passive optical fiber access technology that will eventually dominate the network.
