Until now, the chip was being used to power servers and other enterprise PCs, but never on mobile workstations.
The company highlighted that creative professionals and engineers are seeking for workstation class capabilities in a portable device, and the processor family is designed to meet the needs of such professionals.
Intel Xeon Processor E3-1500M v5 Product Family is based upon the next gen Skylake architecture and is likely to deliver high accuracy computing horsepower in notebook form factors, providing a balance of power and mobility.
Intel Xeon-based mobile workstations will have error-correcting code memory that will be capable of detecting and repairing errors including data corruption and system crashes on-the-go, providing a reliable system.
The workstations powered by Intel Xeon will feature Thunderbolt 3, which is a versatile connection to any dock, display, or peripheral device.
Intel will also provide certifications for applications in computer-aided design and engineering.
The chip maker said that it is not ready to give out full details of the Intel Xeon Processor E3-1500M v5 Product Family but promised professionals belonging to the creative and engineering field will benefit from it.
