Software maker Microsoft has revealed its Surface with Windows 8 Pro will be available in two versions at a price of $899 from January next year.
Surface with Windows 8 Pro uses the same design principles as Surface with Windows RT including the Dark Titanium VaporMg casing, dual 2×2 MIMO antennas designed specifically for Surface.
Surface with Windows 8 Pro includes a USB 3.0 port and Intel’s next generation Core i5 processor.
It will feature a Mini Display port, as well as a microSD card slot and weigh less than two pounds and be less than 14 millimeters thick.
The device will cost $899 for a version with 64GB of storage for $899 and for 128GB of storage the purchase price is $999.
Microsoft Surface general manager Panos Panay said: "Surface with Windows 8 Pro will run your current Windows 7 desktop applications – it’s a full PC AND a tablet."
Earlier this week, Microsoft had revealed that it sold 40 million Windows 8 operating system (OS) licenses in the first month since its launch on 26 October this year.
